If you are catholic king, no matter how powerful, you cannot be emperor unless you take empire crown from HREmperor. Therefore, I suggest a system where every religion/civilization have no more than one emperor. But there is still only one Empire, and one Emperor over all Christendom. There might be caliphs, who consider themselves (simplified!) rulers of all muslim world. ![]() There might be That Other emperor in Byzantium. There might be some unruly kings who question his authority. Long story short: Emperor is universal monarch who claim authority over all Christendom. Personally I'm big fan of what RIRSEI suggested (here is table of content, in first comment: ) In Ck2, "big states" can be created without emperor title (through it is obviously harder), I see no reason why in Ck3 it would be impossible, but they are still different entity that "empire" in Ck2 sense. There is difference between "empire" (as in "land ruled by emperor"), and "empire" (as in "big state"). Ottoman empire (15th century, secular successer of Byzanz, -> Ḳayṣer-i Rūm)Ĭlick to expand. One thing.Russia (15th century, spirituell successer of Byzanz throught the orthodox faith).HRE (Otto as a successer of Karl in 962) could see it as one with france.France (Karl the Great restored the Empire 800).Rome/Byzantine (if you see them seperate). ![]() This means that there are only 2-7 "empires" in history and only 2-4 in the Timeframe and location of CK The german "Kaiser" or the russian "Zar" come from Cesar (Gaius Iulius) and both see themself as legit christian sucessers of rome. How do me make this dynamic and plasible at the same time (I would not bother to compare it too much with reality because there where not much "Empires" historicaly as i understand them).Īs a german speaker emperes mean to me somthing i can call "Reich" and has a "Kaiser" not a King on top of it and most of them are pased on Rome and to legitimized by a divine power. I dont like this solution (because i am throwing away Norse games by not taking scandinavia) because it is railroading gameplay.įrom a gamplay point of view (CK2) its easy, it is another layer that puts you above kings. ![]() Do we know anything about empires in ck3 or if there is de jure land and how de jure works.Īs empires work in CK2, they are a King of Kings titles you can only get if you control preset kingdoms.
